Making the first move can easily put you out there. The worst thing that can happen is that they say no because they’re busy. The best thing? It’s endless. Meeting one friend is a gateway to meeting more friends and friends of friends. This is one easy way to expand your network and start building your empire in New York City.

There are many apps and online services that can help you grow your network and meet new people. Dating apps get a bad rep sometimes, but apps like Bumble have a built-in friendship feature where people are just swiping and meeting friends, so there is less of that romantic stress and more networking. This helps with networking with people who are in your industry and helps you get your foot in the door when it comes to professional favors, like internship opportunities and referrals.
