Saving Tips for College Students

New York is one of the most expensive places to live. To try to adjust to living in the city, I’ve laid a few tips that helped me save. Here are these tips to help you still have some money left from your earnings!

Track your money

Have a money tracker. Being able to visually see how much money goes out each day can remind you to lower your spending. This way you will be more mindful of what you spend each day.

Free or Inexpensive Activities

NYC has plenty of free activities like going on walks, looking at views, and free museums. Also, restaurants have specials on certain days where you can get half off of drinks or menu items. There are other things that are free that you do out of the comfort of your home, such as, reading, painting, sleeping, and sport activities.

Free or Inexpensive Subscriptions

Take advantage of free subscriptions to see if you want to invest your money’s worth in them. All subscriptions provide at least a week or month free access. They also provide special subscriptions for students if they provide their college email.

Transportation

Do not take expensive transportation like taxis, but try to take the MTA. MTA has the most inexpensive fare, so using that to travel place to place would save you a lot of money.

Cook More

Try to eat out less and cook more at home for more nutritious and healthy meals. Eating out can cost a lot and can be equivalent to just buying groceries.
