New Immigrant’s Guide to Brooklyn! Born and Raised!!

Bensonhurst is a residential neighborhood in the southwestern section of New York City in the borough of Brooklyn. Born in 2001, I was born and raised in Brooklyn my whole life! There is no other better person than me to show you around.

Community

Majority of Bensonhurst residents are made up of White and Asian people. Walking around the streets, you will definitely see a lot of these two demographics and the countless interactions between them. Living here my whole life, I would say Bensonhurst is pretty safe and gives off very comfy vibes.

Transportation

Commuting to places won’t be something for you to worry about. Every way you go, you will notice a bus station or a train station ready to take you to your destination. I specifically live near plenty of bus stops and on the D line!

Restaurants

Brooklyn is home to many mom and pops shops and restaurants. Specifically, 86th street is my go-to area if I ever want to grab a quick bite or want to have a nice family dinner. My personal favorite is a restaurant named Kowloon, which serves Hong-Kong style cuisines. If you ever want to stop by, I would recommend crispy pork chop over rice with red sauce. So delicious! 😋

Education

There are many public schools available for elementary, middle and high school students. Brooklyn has a lot of great schools with amazing teachers to take care of your child and their educational needs. My elementary, middle and high schools were all in Brooklyn so I certainly have experienced it all and all I can say is, I enjoyed every moment!
